provided grants to individual chapters for technology upgrades, educational
purchases, and Leadership Advantage. |
|
|
| Q. |
Why should I donate to the Foundation vs. my chapter? |
| A. |
Although your chapter is in need of your donation, the
Foundation is designed to optimize your gift. It is the benefit of being
part of a collective whole. The Foundation is able to pool the donations of
all the brothers from many chapters and design the best, most cutting edge
programs available to your chapter. These programs benefit undergraduates
from your chapter, and strengthen it. Donations made directly would not have
the same impact, nor are they tax-deductible. |
|
|
| Q. |
Can I designate my gift to my chapter? |
| A. |
Although we prefer gifts to be unrestricted, there are
opportunities available to specifically benefit your chapter. In some cases,
other donors have already established chapter educational accounts for only
the benefit of the designated chapter. If the fund has already been
established, donors may direct their gift to that fund. If a fund has not
yet been established a donor may establish one with an initial gift of
$25,000 or a three year pledge of $25,000. Chapter educational accounts may
also be established by planned gift. |

| Q. |
How are Foundation assets invested? |
| A. |
The Foundation has established an endowment to insure the
perpetual health of Triangle. These funds are then invested into the stock
market, bonds and money market accounts. The money generated from these
investments is used to make grants to the Fraternity, to fund the operations
of the Foundation and the extra funds are put into more investments. |
|
|

make a lasting gift to the Foundation to endow a scholarship, benefit your
chapter or allow the Foundation to continue valuable educational programs. |
| |

Welcome from the President |

Why Triangle?
Dear Triangle Brothers & Friends,
I am often asked as a non-member, why did I choose to work for Triangle Education Foundation. I attribute it to two main reasons. The first is the belief in the mission of the Foundation; the second is the broad based support from the members of Triangle.
I have often said that Triangle’s place on a college campus is needed today more then ever. Our young people are in need of a values based learning experience. One that challenges them to define their own ethics, and then put it into practice as a leader.
As much as we would like to think the student newspaper or the physics club on campus can provide these same types of experiences, the fact is they do not. Today’s fraternities and sororities are the only living, learning leadership laboratories on campus.
You can’t escape the daily lessons you learn from living with a group of men, working together for a common goal and united under a shared vision. We are developing tomorrow’s leaders. Our future political officials, corporate executives and community activists will be the young people we train today.
I am not the only one who believes in the mission of Triangle. In examining the support Triangle receives from its members, we excel in all areas. Triangle is #1 in percentage of members who support Triangle financially on a yearly basis. We also are well above the industry average in the amount of financial support the Foundation provides its members. Below is how well Triangle shakes out compared to other the other fraternities.

I am proud of my involvement with Triangle. I am confident we are providing Triangle members the opportunity to excel as leaders with character and integrity. I continue to look forward to meeting Triangles from across the country.
As always, thank you to all our members and donors who give of their time, talent and treasure to make Triangle a quality learning experience for our members.
Sincerely,

We ARE Changing Lives
Dear Friends,
Like many of you, I often wonder just how my gifts to the Triangle Education Foundation are making a difference. I know I am providing deserving members with the opportunity to participate in the many programs provided by Triangle, but I question if my gifts are really making a difference in the lives of these men.
One only needs to look at just one of the programs the Foundation funds on a regular basis…the Herb Scobie Leadership School. The Leadership School is offered each summer, most recently on the campus of Rose Holman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.
The extensive weekend focused on leadership and change. The theme was 212 degrees based on the fact that water is simply hot at 211 degrees, but boils at the 212 mark. How the difference of one degree can make. The same goes for leadership, what a difference one person can make with one simple act.
During the weekend attendees heard Purdue Chapter alumnus John Storm talk about how his Triangle experience changed his life and developed him into an industry leader. They undertook community service projects to bring to life the concept of Servant Leadership. They shared with each other participating in team building activities, training sessions, panel discussions, an etiquette dinner, and capped off by a Ritual exemplification ceremony. In essence, each day they delved deeper to better themselves and their chapters.
Through this experience Triangle brothers found out what former Triangle Executive Director Herbert Scobie truly meant when he said “To have a better world, we must first have a world of better men.” This weekend lived up to that statement and fulfilled the mission of Triangle Fraternity by providing a life changing opportunity for our future leaders.
Although the statistical data is still being reviewed, I am confident in saying that the program was a success and we made a major impact on those in attendance. I look forward to sharing the research data with you when it is complete.
I am confident we are making a major impact on Triangle men across the country by providing quality leadership development skills and a living, learning laboratory at the chapter house to experiment with their new found leadership tools. Triangle takes its mission of producing leaders with character and integrity very serious.
Thank you to all our members and friends who have made gifts to Triangle, remember us in their estate plans and donated their precious time. We can’t do it without you!
In F, S, & C,
James R. McShane marq65
Chairman
