Using eBay to Triangle's Advantage |
If
it sounds a bit far fetched to use the most popular Internet auction site to
benefit Triangle, you'll want to read on a bit further to understand the true
potential. Consider this for starters: eBay has raised $300,000 for non-profits
so far.
eBay, the online auction company, now allows its 69 million individual and
corporate customers to assign all or part of their online proceeds to the
Triangle Education Foundation. It's really quite simple. If you are a regular
buyer or a seller on eBay and already have an eBay user name and password,
you'll want to take just a minute to register with MissionFish, eBay's charity
solution provider at
http://www.missionfish.org.
If you've never shopped or sold items on eBay, it takes less than a minute to
register and set up your account using the same MissionFish link above.
Once
registered with MissionFish, you can search for items currently on auction that
are scheduled to benefit Triangle Education Foundation and bid on these items
yourself. You can also list items to sell designating Triangle to receive
anywhere from 10% to 100% of the proceeds from each item auctioned.
If you've been contemplating a garage sale or have items of value you feel would
do particularly well on eBay, please consider helping out Triangle as you shop
and sell. On eBay, you can sell or buy just about anything from a high school
yearbook to real estate.
eBay may be the largest online charitable retailer, but it is not the only one.
If you shop online, you can also designate Triangle as a recipient of up to 35%
of the cost of items purchased at
www.buyforcharity.com and up to 15% of items purchased at
www.greatergood.com.
When you make a gift of this type or any other to the Triangle Education
Foundation, you will promptly receive a thank you acknowledgement letter with
the charitable amount of your gift to use for tax purposes.
We hope you will contact our office for more information on a growing variety of
donor opportunities at the Triangle Education Foundation. We would be happy
to discuss and/or send you more information by regular mail or as an email
attachment. Please phone (317) 705-9803 or email

Many gifts to Triangle are made in the form of stock. By gifting an
appreciated security directly to a charity like Triangle, a donor is eligible
for a charitable deduction for the full market value of the stock, plus he
doesn’t have to pay capital gains taxes!
The information below may help you if you are contemplating such a gift this
year. Please feel free to share this information with your professional
advisors, such as your attorney, CPA, or stockbroker.
When transferring appreciated securities, please notify the Education Foundation
of the name and number of share being transferred in advance of the transaction.
We want to make certain that your gift is correctly acknowledged for your tax
records, and that you received full credit for your contribution in the
Foundation next Annual Report.

Triangle and the United Way |
|
Some United Way’s across the country offer a unique opportunity for their
donors. They allow you to designate your gift to any 501 (c) 3 charity. Under
this circumstance Triangle Education Foundation is qualified to receive
designated gifts from your local United Way. Not all chapters offer it and most
do not advertise this program. To find out if your chapter offers this donor
choice program, contact your personnel office or United Way campaign director.

Does your Company Offer Matching Gifts? |
|
Your employer, or your spouse’s employer, may multiply your contribution
through a matching gift program. Most of these companies match on a
dollar-per-dollar basis, but some will match 2:1 or 3:1.
Each company has its own rules regarding types of gifts that qualify, and who
qualifies to participate. To obtain a matching gift form, contact your personnel
or human resources office and then enclose the completed form with your check
made payable to the Triangle Education Foundation. The form will be certified
and returned to your employer.
For question concerning matching gifts call (317) 837-9641 or email
