Your employer, or your spouse’s employer, may multiply your contribution
through a matching gift program. Most of these companies match on a
dollar-per-dollar basis, but some will match 2:1 or 3:1.
Each company has its own rules regarding types of gifts that qualify, and who
qualifies to participate. To obtain a matching gift form, contact your personnel
or human resources office and then enclose the completed form with your check
made payable to the Triangle Education Foundation. The form will be certified
and returned to your employer.
For question concerning matching gifts call (317) 837-9641 or email

The Founders’ Club In 1907 a group of young men gave of themselves to form an organization that would impact young men for many years to come. They had a vision of the future and did what it took to make it happen. They believed in a brotherhood of men, committed to scholarly activity, developing strong bonds of brotherhood, with a strong sense of civic involvement and the broadening of one's leadership skills.
These men made an investment in Triangle. In recognition of their sacrifice for the good of the order, the Education Foundation created the Founders' Club.
The Founders' Club is one of the building blocks of the Triangle Education Foundation. Club members contribute gifts of $10,000 (Diamond), $5,000 (Titanium), $2,500 (Platinum), $1,000 (Gold), $500 (Silver), $250 (Bronze), or $125 (Pearl)* over the course of the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). These individuals provide the financial foundation for a wide array of educational programs for the members of Triangle. All alumni are invited and encourage to join this prestigious society. If you would like to become a member of this group call the Foundation’s President, Scott Bova at (317) 705-9803 or email him at

The Living Oak Society The oak tree is a meaningful part of our coat of arms, but what does it have to do with retirement and estate planning? The tree in many ways represents our Fraternity – strong, full of life, with roots deeply planted. As the years pass it gathers nourishment from the fallen leaves, grows new limbs, sprouts fresh leaves and becomes even stronger.
Just as the mighty oak tree needs nourishment to maintain its strength and keep growing, the Fraternity needs the same “plant food”. Through the generosity of many the Fraternity is the strongest it has ever been. New branches being formed on such campuses such as the University of Kentucky, new leaves being sprouted with each initiation class, and roots growing stronger with our growing ranks of alumni make Triangle Fraternity a very strong oak tree.
As retirement and estate planning have become so prevalent in today’s society as a way to pass on a greater percent of one’s estate to their family, as well as, provide “plant food” for the charities they care the most about. Thankfully for Triangle, many alumni have made it a priority to provide for the Fraternity in their plans.
In response, the Foundation has established the Living Oak Society to recognize those alumni that have made Triangle a part of their retirement and estate plans. We know many alumni have done so without even being asked and without identifying themselves, but we want to make sure you are properly recognized for your support, as well as, share with others your deep convictions in Triangle.
The President’s Men In the fall of 2000 the Foundation launched the President’s Men, a new program specifically geared towards undergraduate Triangle brothers. The President’s Men is a special invitation from the Foundation President for undergraduates to give a vote of confidence in the work of the Foundation.
The President’s Men is a special recognition society for undergraduate members. For a $25 donation an undergraduate becomes a member of this elite society. With their gift they reaffirm their commitment to leadership and scholarship by their support of the many programs of the Foundation.
The Foundation sponsored programs such as the Educational Leadership Consultants, the Herbert F. Scobie Leadership School, the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute, Leadership Advantage or the annual President’s Academy impact every Triangle chapter. These programs have proven results in improved chapter size, GPA, and leadership abilities.
The President’s Men program recognizes donors in the fiscal year (July 1 – June 30), if you would like more information on the President’s Men program, please contact the Foundation’s President, Scott Bova at (317) 705-9803 or at

Ways to Give
The Foundation is much more than a fund raising vehicle. It has real
programs, developed and administered by real people, which provide real benefits
to Triangle Fraternity and its members in building the Triangle Experience. The
Foundation clearly understands and believes that its sole mission is to support
Triangle and its members, and it is committed to that mission. When you, as a
Triangle alumnus, receive your letter seeking support for the Foundation and its
programs, please respond. It's important to the future of Triangle, and, given
Triangle's technical focus, we believe it's also important to maintaining the
competitiveness of our country.
Here are a few simple and convenient ways YOU can support the Foundation and its
educational programs.
Gifts of Cash
The most popular way of contributing to the Foundation is to make a cash gift -
currency, check, money order, credit card, or draft. Checks should be made
payable to the Triangle Education Foundation, 120 S. Center Street, Plainfield,
Indiana, 46168.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities are frequently given to the Foundation since
there are several tax advantages to be realized. First, no capital gains tax
need be paid on appreciated securities that are contributed. Second, in filing
income tax the full current market value of long-term securities (held more than
12 months) may be claimed as a charitable deduction. Contact the Foundation
office to get the details on how to transfer securities to the Foundation.
Matching Gifts
Many corporations provide charitable matching gift programs to their employees.
This is an easy way to double or even triple the impact of your annual gift. The
Triangle Education Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) charitable educational foundation
and is eligible for many corporate giving programs. To find out if your company
will match your gift to Triangle, please contact your company's giving officer
or the Foundation.
Real and Personal Property Real estate and certain items of personal property of
established value can be donated to the Foundation. Personal property which is
beneficial to the Foundation’s purpose and function and real estate are tax
deductible at fair market value as established by a recognized appraiser.
Life Insurance
The outright contribution of all rights of ownership in a life insurance policy
creates for the donor an immediate deduction for income tax purposes. The naming
of a charitable organization as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy will
not provide an income tax deduction, but the proceeds of the policy must be
included in the donor’s estate, and there will be an offsetting charitable
deduction.
Bequests
A bequest through a will is the most frequent form of deferred gift, largely
because it can be a means of making a substantial gift to the Foundation without
diminishing the assets available to the donor during his lifetime. Important
estate tax savings can result from this type of contribution, since bequests to
the Foundation may be deducted from the total estate in determining estate
taxes.
Although the actual drafting of your will should be arranged through your
attorney, counsel for the Foundation is available to confer with you and your
attorney in drafting the appropriate bequest clause.
The simplest of the various ways to provide support for the Foundation through a
will is a bequest of a fixed amount or a percentage of dollars or specific items
of real or personal property. Bequests can be as small as $10,000 and still
provide a perpetual annual gift large enough to have a worthwhile impact.
If you have already decided to include the Triangle Education Foundation in your
will, let us know so that we can recognize you through our “Living Oak Society”
membership -- individuals already committed to the future of our Fraternity.
Life Income Trusts
Individuals who wish to give substantially toward the strength of Triangle yet
wish to retain life income payments from the assets being donated often choose
to enter a life income trust program.
Gifts in the form of living charitable remainder trusts provide the same estate
tax benefits as bequests. In addition, many forms of agreements provide
substantial lifetime income tax benefits. Two basic types are the Charitable
Remainder Annuity Trust and the Charitable Remainder Unitrust.
In each case the individual transfers either cash or property to the Trustee of
the Charitable Remainder Trust (for example, a bank trust department). The
trustee agrees to pay a specified amount to the individual or to his designated
beneficiary for life. Income payments may be based upon a fixed dollar amount or
a specified percentage of the total trust assets. The principal of the trust
when it becomes available to the Foundation following the death of the
life-income beneficiary will be used on behalf of Triangle either in an area of
greatest need or as specified by the donor.
Gifts in Honor, Gifts in Memory One of the most thoughtful contributions an individual can make is a gift in
honor or in memory of a teacher, advisor, brother, friend, or relative. An
honorary or memorial gift is an appropriate way to recognize someone’s life and
accomplishments. The magnitude and diversity of the Foundation offers many
opportunities for donors who wish to associate the name of a family or respected
individual with a project or program of enduring worth.
Annual Fund Donors
Over 1,000 individuals have invested in the Foundation over the past year.
Regardless of the level each donor is valued. Thank you to all the following
individuals how have supported the Foundation this past fiscal year. List
represents gifts received between July 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006.
